Seeking dancers who sing for 2019 Season

Josh Pacheco Dance

Friday, Jan 4, 2019 @ 5-7PM

Call back/rehearsal: Wednesday afternoon, Jan 9, 2019

Location: TBA - Lower East Side

Commitment: 1-2 rehearsals per week

Project A "Privilege" A choral commentary on inherent advantage - Friday's 2-4pm

Project B "The Male Quartet" a deconstruction of bodily desire and expection versus reality- Friday's 5-7pm (subject to change based on dancer availability)

Josh Pacheco Dance is a newly emerging dance theater company based in New York City. JPD invests in collaborative, interdisciplinary work that is representative of its company participants and their experiences. JPD is oriented toward social justice and the expression of identity presented in abstracted, universal performance.

Josh Pacheco Dance is seeking dancers and understudies for multiple work-in-process rehearsals and performances through March 2019 and possibly May. with strong facility for contemporary, modern, improvisational techniques. We highly encourage performers of color, male identifying/ presenting, GNC, and other queer performers to audition!

Dancers should be generous collaborators and focused technicians, with a clear grasp of their individuality as performers. For these projects, dancers must also be capable singers and may be asked to sing at the audition.

Rehearsals are currently held Fridays, 2-4PM and/or 5-7PM, at Hunter College and occasionally the Bay Ridge area (subject to change). Performances roughly the last weekend of each month (Jan-Mar). Understudies will receive a stipend for each performance, regardless of whether they perform.

To receive more audition details please send a headshot and/or dance shot, a video of yourself dancing (either reel, class, or improvisation etc.) and a resume to joshpachecodance@gmail.com. If you have a video of yourself singing, whether that be stage, or shower, concert, or karaoke, send that our way as well! The courage to try outweighs the proficiency of the skill.

Josh Pacheco Dance will be presenting their new work “blueprints,'‘ and exploratory dance theater piece about constructing home and the roles of the community.

Tickets are $20 general admission $15 with Student ID

HATCH Presenting Series was created in the Spring of 1997 in response to the need in the dance field for a cost-free space that enables emerging choreographers to investigate new work, present works-in-progress and engage in dialogue with the audience, free from financial pressure and the scrutiny of critical response.

This program presents Saturday evening performances each year sectioned into Fall and Spring series. The emerging choreographers who participate in the HATCH Series vary in age, perspective and technique. The Works believes that each of their voices deserves a platform for mentorship and performance. The dances offered range from solo to group pieces, some accompanied by live music or actors. The series has presented over 1,000 choreographic works.
